# Connect your Pingdom data to Geckoboard

Steps to connect directly to Pingdom to access your data.

You must be on a paid Pingdom plan to use this data source as their free plan doesn't allow API access.

1. Add a new Pingdom widget from your dashboard.

2. Select a widget type from the list.

3. On the connection panel **Name this connection** and provide your Pingdom **API Token**.

If you've already generated an API token in Pingdom, click Connect. If not, follow the remaining steps.

4. To generate your API token, log into Pingdom and click the **Integrations** icon in the left hand menu.

5. On the following screen, click the green **Add API Token** button. If you haven't generated any tokens before look for it in the bottom right corner.

6. In the pop-up **Add API token** window enter a name for your token _e.g. Geckoboard_ and select **Read-Write access**. Click **Generate token** to confirm.

7. You'll now see your new API token. Click **Copy** to copy it to your clipboard.

8. Switch back to Geckoboard and paste the API token in the connection panel, then click Connect.
