# Create visual alerts with Status indicators

Add status indicators to number and gauge widgets to spot when something important happens to one of your key metrics.

## Status indicators overview

Status indicators call attention to a widget when it's performing above or below expectations. When a number reaches a warning or success state, a red or green visual indicator will be displayed based on a threshold you configure. Status indicators are available for the Number and Gauge visualizations.

## How to add a Status indicator

1. Hover over the top right of your widget, click the ellipsis, and **select Status indicators**.
2. Set the Display field to Warning or Success, then **add the threshold value** you want to show the indicator for.
3. If preferred, **repeat this** for the remaining status.
4. Click **Save** to apply.
