# Why we don't support pie charts

Pie charts can be misleading and hard to interpret, making them rarely the best choice for visualizing your data.

Geckoboard doesn't support pie charts (except in our legacy [Custom Widgets API](https://developer-custom.geckoboard.com/#pie-chart)). This is a deliberate choice on our part as pie charts are rarely the best choice for visualizing your data. In short, they can be misleading and hard to interpret. That's why **we recommend using a bar chart instead**.

As you can see in the example below, when you present the same data in a bar chart without the distraction of color and clutter, it’s much easier to digest the data quickly and correctly.
