# Import Looker data into Geckoboard using Google Sheets

Learn how to import Looker data into your dashboard.

Import your Looker data onto a pivot table, then connect it to Geckoboard using our Google Sheets data source.

## Connecting to Looker from Google Sheets

1. Open a new file in Google Sheets.
2. In the menu at the top, click **Data** > **Data connectors** > **Connect to Looker**.
3. The first time you connect, you must link your Google and Looker accounts.
4. Enter the name of your Looker instance or select an instance you recently connected, and click **Continue**.
5. A new Looker instance may not be available in Connected Sheets for up to 24 hours.
6. Select the Looker model and Explore that you want to use for your query, and click **Connect**.
7. Once connected, a new sheet will open showing the structure of the selected Explore.

## Adding Looker data to your sheet using pivot tables

1. From the new sheet showing your Explore, click **Pivot Table**.
2. Select whether to insert a new pivot table in either a new sheet or an existing sheet, and click **Create**.
3. After the pivot table editor window opens, you can add rows, columns, values, and [filters](https://cloud.google.com/looker/docs/filtering-and-limiting) to build your query based on the dimensions and measures in your Looker [Explore](https://cloud.google.com/looker/docs/exploring-data#explores_are_the_starting_point_for_exploration).
4. Click **Add** to add a row, column, value, or filter.

5. The rows, columns, values, and filters in the pivot editor are equivalent to your Looker dimensions and measures in the following ways:
   1. Rows = Looker [dimensions](https://cloud.google.com/looker/docs/exploring-data#explores_are_the_starting_point_for_exploration)
   2. Columns = Looker [pivoted dimensions](https://cloud.google.com/looker/docs/exploring-data#pivoting_dimensions)
   3. Values = Looker [measures](https://cloud.google.com/looker/docs/exploring-data#explores_are_the_starting_point_for_exploration); created by selecting a Looker dimension and a Sheets **Summarize by** function
   4. Filters = Looker [filters](https://cloud.google.com/looker/docs/filtering-and-limiting)
6. Connected Sheets displays a list of the views available in your Explore and you can **click on a view name** to show the list of the dimensions and measures in the view, and then select the field that supplies the data for your row, column, value, or filter.
7. In the case of filters, you'll be able to specify how you want to filter the data on that field:

8. Once you've added your Looker fields and filters to build your query, click **Apply**.
9. This will populate your sheet with data from your Looker instance:
